Good Evening Everyone!

I hope that you had an enjoyable week of online learning activities with your teachers!  Remember, all Windemere students should be logging on to their teacher's Google Classrooms daily and completing the activities and assignments that are posted.  The students are only required to do the work from their class.  Students are not logging into every single Google Classroom that was posted.  For Related Arts classes, those are now specific for grade level bands - Art is for Grades K & 1, Music is for Grades 2 & 3, and PE is for Grades 4 & 5.  All Calls went out yesterday to students who have not been logging on consistently.  This is considered our daily school-time, so students need to be getting logged on.  Of course, we are here to help!  If you are having a hard time with anything, please let your teacher or myself know.  We will do anything we can to help you!  Starting next week, we will begin calling families of students who haven't been logging on to see what we can do to help.  We will still have Spring Break beginning April 10th through the 17th.  Online instruction will resume on April 20th.

Be well.  Stay safe. Wash your hands.  We deeply miss all of you!

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  We are entering a new domain for Windemere and APS, but we are a strong community and we will get through this together!  Today, all students brought home their chrome books and chargers.  They also have textbooks and other materials from their classrooms.  PLEASE follow the directions from their classroom teachers in regards to the work that they want the students to complete for the next three weeks.  The students have everything for the year, just in case, but they ONLY need to complete what their teachers have told them to complete for the next three weeks for now.  They DO NOT need to complete everything.  We are being proactive in sending everything home just in case the closure lasts longer than we anticipate.  If that takes place, you will receive further instructions on what your child will need to complete.  Students are expected to complete the work that they have been given.  It is not optional.  Their learning must continue while we are out for the next three weeks.  We will be closed starting on Monday, March 16th until April 3rd.  Again, there will be no school on Monday, the 16th until April the 3rd.  Beginning on Tuesday, March 17th families will be able to come to the school from 9:30-11:30 to get bags of breakfast and lunch food.  This will take place Mondays through Thursdays for the remaining three weeks.  Please use the district website for additional information during the three weeks that we are out of school.  You can also email me directly with questions.

Be Safe.  Stay Well.   Wash your hands.

Good Evening Families,
This is Mrs. Lee with a special evening All Call.  I wanted to make sure you knew about some events that were cancelled here at the school in case you didn't see my email that was sent last night.  Muffins for Mom that was scheduled for tomorrow, Friday the 13th, is cancelled.  The PTA Paint night, also scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled as well.  Again, Muffins for Mom and the Mother Son Paint night both scheduled for tomorrow, Friday the 13th, are cancelled.  We also just learned today that the track meet scheduled for Saturday has also been cancelled.
Future events may be cancelled for the remainder of the year.  I will let you know as I get more information from the district.  For now, most events up until spring break are likely to be cancelled, but more information will be coming soon,
I want to thank everyone for their support.  We want to make sure that we are maintaining a safe and clean environment for our students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.  This is Mrs. Lee, the principal of Windemere.
Thank you!

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  I can't believe that it's almost March!  Please come to our PTA meeting on March 5th at 6:00.  The PTA BOGO Book Fair is March 9th - 13th.  We are calling all Moms to please come and enjoy a light breakfast with your student in the cafeteria for Muffins with Mom on March 13th!  It will be from 7:50-8:15.  March 19th is the kick-off of KG enrollment for next school year.  We will have two sessions.  The first is at 9:00 and the second will be at 5:30.  Please plan on attending if you have a KG student who will be coming to us next year, and spread the word to your neighbors too!  We will also have our school-wide fundraiser beginning on March 23rd.  We will be selling yummy and delicious pepperoni rolls this year!!!  They are $4 each and the profit will go towards buying headphones and mice for the students.  Also, put on your calendar that our annual game night is on March 26th.  We will play board games and have some pizza.  Then PTA will continue the fun by showing a movie and popping some popcorn.  It should be a lot of fun!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Interims came home this week and conferences were last night.  Please make sure that you are double checking book bags and homework folders nightly to ensure that everything is getting completed.  All students are expected to read nightly.  A huge benefit would be for you to talk to your student about what he/she is reading.  MAP testing for grades KG-3rd begins on Monday!  We are so excited to see how much our students will have grown from the Fall assessment.  It takes about two weeks to complete these assessments, so please make sure that your child is on time to school every day and getting plenty of sleep each night!  Spring Picture day is the 26th.  Students may dress up if they are having their picture taken.  If not, then they need to be in uniform.

Have a glorious weekend!

Mrs. Lee

Good Morning Families,

I recently sent an All Call to let you know that our PTA meeting for this evening, 2/13/20, has been cancelled due to concerns with the weather.  If you have questions, please call me here at school or check out the PTA Facebook page.  Also, coming up next week is our Parent-Teacher conference night on Thursday, Feb. 20th from 2:45-6:45.  Please make sure that you keep an eye out for your child's teacher to send and confirm appointment times with you.  I also wanted to thank so many of you for filling out the Parent Survey that was sent home!  We are learning a lot, and truly appreciate you taking the time to give us that feedback!!!  Remember, there is no school tomorrow (2/14) or Monday (2/17).

Enjoy the long weekend!

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  I want to thank all of our volunteers who came up for Career Day today!  It was a resounding success!  The students were able to learn so much about your chosen careers.  Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with them.  We will continue this event next year too, so keep it in mind for the end of January.  PTA will start it's Sucker Sales next week in the cafeteria during lunch.  If you'd like your child to purchase a sucker for themselves or to send one to someone else, please send $0.50 per sucker on Thursday and Friday of next week.  A flyer did come home with this information as well.  Also, keep a look out for a Parent Survey that will be coming home soon.  This is a quick survey where you have the opportunity to give us some feedback about the school year so far.  On the back, you can also offer some editing suggestions for our Windemere Vision, Mission and School Promise.  We are in the second semester of the school year, so please make sure that all students are reading nightly and keeping up with homework.

Have a glorious weekend!

Mrs. Lee

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with you weekly All Call.  My apologies for not getting this out last week.  I have been out sick.  Please make sure that you are careful in the parking lot when you are getting in line following my office staff.  It should be safe and orderly at all times in that parking lot.  You can not form a line behind the cones and wait for their removal.  You must pull into a spot and wait for the cones to be removed before you line up.  Otherwise, you are still violating the rules in the lot by blocking someone's parked car.  Report cards should come home tomorrow.  Make sure that you ask your child for their report card.  Keep up to date with all homework and classwork by staying in close contact with your child's teacher.  We are a team, and we need to make sure that we are always in open communication so that our students are supported!  Windemere remains at the top of the list in academic performance, and we want to keep it that way!

Thank you!

Mrs. Lee

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Thursday evening email.  This is coming tonight because we do not have school tomorrow.  We also do not have school on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. day.  Please enjoy the nice long weekend.  The first semester is officially over.  It's hard to believe how fast time flies!  Report cards will be coming home on January 28th.  Beginning on Tuesday, we will have to start putting cones out in the pick-up lane again around 12:00.  Unfortunately, people continue to violate board policy by parking running cars in the pickup lane and then proceeding to pollute the air right outside of our classroom windows.  It is an extreme safety hazard.  The cones will be removed when office staff has time to go and get them daily before 2:30.  Remember, there is truly no need to be here in line before dismissal.  We have all staff members monitoring students at dismissal, and all children are accounted for before we return inside.  I would again like to encourage you to use Emerald St. behind the school as a rendezvous point for your child to come and meet you at your car so that you can avoid the parking lot entirely.   That would help ease the congestion, and we could get everyone in and out swiftly.

Thank you,

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Happy New Year to Everyone!  We are so excited to kick off this new decade together.  It was wonderful to see all of the boys and girls again this week!  We really did miss them.  Please keep in mind that our Friday jeans days are not full dress down days.  Students need to still be in uniform for their shirt.  They can also wear a Windemere or Ellet spirit wear shirt, but they may not wear anything else.  We had quite a few students who had to borrow uniform shirts from our clinic today.   We have a PTA meeting on January 16th at 6:00.  The end of marking period two is January 16th as well.  There is no school on the 17th or on the 20th.  Report cards should come home on January 28th as long as we don't have any computer issues.  We are still looking for volunteers to come up on January 31st for Career Day.  A flyer will be coming home again if you are interested.  We would love to have you share your career with our students!  Have a fantastic weekend, and stay dry!

Take care,

Mrs. Lee

12/20/19

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  I want to wish all of you the Happiest of Holidays!  I hope that you are all able to spend time with family and friends.  Don't forget that all students should be reading over winter break, and students in grades 3-5 should be practicing any of the tiles on the APS portal!  Remember, those chrome books are learning tools!  Winter break lasts from Monday, December 23rd through Monday, January 6th.  The students come back to school on January 7th.  Please remember the rules in the parking lot upon our return to school.  Nobody should park in the pick-up lane before 2:00.  I noticed that some people were starting to come by 1:00 before break, and that has to stop.  You are violating board policy by leaving your car there for that long, and you will be asked to move.  When you are in that lane at dismissal, continue to pull up as far as possible so we can get in as many cars as we can.  Your child can find you in the line.  Do not ever encourage your child to walk across the lot and come to your car while you are in line.  That is entirely against our rules.  Don't forget that you can always tell your student to go to the back of the building to Emerald and wait there to pick him/her up instead of coming into the lot.  There are not nearly as many cars on the backside of the building.  Remember, we are all here for the same reason and your kindness is being watched by 275 students.

Thank you everyone and have a wonderful holiday season!

Mrs. Lee

12/6/19
Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening phone call.  Thank you to everyone who came out last night for our conference night!  It was wonderful to see all of you.  Please remember that when you come to school at dismissal, you can not block the crosswalk that crosses the parking lot.  If the car line extends that far out, you will need to wait to turn into the lot.  Next week we will have our 3rd-5th graders performance on the 11th at 7:00.  Mrs. Blough sent home a flyer with the details.  On the 13th, PTA is hosting their Hot Chocolate Bar event from 6:00-8:00pm. Please make sure to RSVP.  Santa Shop is the following week beginning on the 17th.  Teachers are signing up to take their classes.  Winter break begins on Dec. 23rd and goes through Jan. 6th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. Lee

Good Evening Families,

Safe Delivery This link will take you to the instructions that we provided at the beginning of the year regarding the expectations for how our cars need to move in the AM and PM in the parking lot.  Please read them over to ensure that you are meeting our expectations.  If you do not pick up your child, please print this off and give it to the person who does.  Next week is the last week for the canned food drive.  The class with the most items will earn an extra recess.  This collection will go towards families in need in the Greater Akron area, so thank you in advance for your donations!  We are off on Nov. 27th - Nov. 29th for Thanksgiving, and Winter Break is December 23rd - January 6th.  There are a lot of fun events coming up between now and then so make sure that you are checking book bags nightly!

Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Lee

11/8/19

Good Evening Everyone,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Thank you to everyone who came out for our Book Tasting event last night!  It was so nice to see all of you.  Next week, on Thursday the 14th, we have our monthly PTA meeting at 6:00pm.  We hope to see a lot of you there!  Picture re-take day has been scheduled for Nov. 20th.  A flyer will come home shortly.  Please donate whatever you can to our canned food drive!  The class with the most canned goods will earn an extra recess.  Students need to come to school wearing a coat, and hopefully gloves, now that the weather has turned cold.  With the time turned back as well, please do not drop students off before 7:50am.  There is no supervision outside, and it's too dark and unsafe for the children to be on the playground.  Make sure that you are reading nightly and checking book bags too.  We are well into the 2nd grading period already, and we want all students at Windemere to be successful!

Thank you,

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

11/1/19

Good Evening Families,

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Our pictures came today!  Thank you again for your patience.  We also kicked off our canned food drive today!  It will run until November 22nd.  The class that collects the most canned goods or non-perishable items will receive an extra recess. Remember that there is no school on Tuesday, Nov. 4th.  On Nov. 7th, we will have our Book Tasting event!  It's from 5:00-6:30.  You will be served three books to read and review, and then each Windemere student will also receive a book to take home!  We will serve a light meal of pizza to top off this fun event, so please put it on your calendar and come.  Please check book bags, because students who do not have an emergency card on file for the 2019-2020 school year have the instructions in their book bags for how to go online and fill it out.  All emergency cards have to be completed online.  Beginning on Tuesday, 11-5, any student without their emergency card filled out will miss recess until it gets completed.   Lastly, please make sure to walk in your child if he/she is coming to school after 8:30am.  They must be signed in to our office by an adult.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

10/17/19

Good evening families, this is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Thank you for doing a much better job of not parking in the pickup lane at dismissal!  We are able to mostly clear our lot by 2:40 every day when everyone follows that simple protocol.  I want to apologize for the delay in getting your school pictures.  This has never happened to us before.  Lifetouch is having production issues, and that's why we don't have our pictures yet.  Thank you for your patience.  Make sure that you have the Third Grade Guarantee meetings on your calendar.  Come to one at 9:00 or at 5:00 on Oct. 23rd.  This is for all families with children in grades KG-3rd grade.  Don't forget to wear pink on Oct. 24th to show your support for breast cancer awareness!  Our Halloween festivities are on the 25th.  The parade will be at 1:15.  A letter should've already come home.

Have a great weekend, and we will see you on Monday!

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

10/11/19

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  In case you haven't heard yet, we are going to have to reschedule our picture retake day.  Lifetouch has experienced some technical issues with getting our pictures printed.  We will send out that date ASAP.

We have noticed that students are not waiting outside of Door #10 any longer in the mornings, so we will not open those doors. Students can continue to come in Door #1 or come in and eat breakfast.

Lastly, please remember that there is NO PARKING in the lane closest to our sidewalks with the white painted lines.  This is causing people to get stuck in a long line while a parked car sits.  All of us are here for the same reason, and we need to model good behaviors for our students.  Cars that continue to violate this rule will no longer be permitted in that lane and will be forced to park and walk to the door.  If you are having a grandparent or family friend pick up your child, please share this rule with them as well.

Some upcoming events: October 23 is the 3rd Grade Guarantee meeting.  This is for all families with students in KG-3rd grade.  It's an informational meeting regarding the 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee.  On Oct. 24th, all students are encouraged to wear pink.  You student may be out of uniform if he/she is wearing pink.  Don't forget that pink bracelets are still being sold for $1 every Wednesday during lunch.  Our Halloween parties and parade are on the 25th.  Students may wear jeans and a brown or orange fall festival or Halloween shirt that day.  Information about the parade and lunch time protocol will be coming soon.

Have a phenomenal weekend!

Mrs. Lee-Wilfong

10/4/19

Good Evening Families,

The teachers and I enjoyed an amazing day today during our many professional development sessions, but we sure did miss the kids!  We are eager to see them again on Monday.  Coming up next week, the PTA Walk-A-Thon is on Oct. 11th.  If you did not yet send in your money, you can up until and on the very day of the event.  Your child will just not also get the prizes on the 11th.  They will get them at a later date.  Looking ahead - picture re-take day is Oct. 15th.  The end of the first marking period is October 18th.  Two informational meetings regarding the Third Grade Reading Guarantee will be held on Oct. 23rd.  They will be at 9:00am and again at 5:00pm.  Any parent with a student in grades KG-3rd grade should attend in order to learn the required information regarding this law.  We will have our Halloween festivities on Oct. 25th.  PTA will hold their Halloween Boo Bash the following week on Nov. 1st.

That's all for now.  Enjoy the long weekend, and we will see you on Monday!

Mrs. Lee

This is Mrs. Lee with your Friday evening email.  Thank you to everyone who came up for Interim Pick-ups on the 26th.  All students should have their interims a this time.  The PTA Book Fair has been an amazing success.  Last chance buyers can bring money on Monday morning for a brief period of time before it all has to be closed down.  On October 1st, we will wear blue shirts to support Anti-Bullying.  Students may wear any type of blue shirt, but they must be in uniform on the bottom.  Beginning October 2nd, and continuing every Wednesday until we run out, Mrs. Crawford will be selling pink breast cancer awareness bracelets for $1 during lunch.  There is no school on October 4th.  It's a professional development day for the teachers.  On October 24th, we will all wear pink to show our school-wide support of breast cancer awareness.  They need to be in uniform on the bottom for this event as well.  On October 25th, we will have our Halloween festivities here at school.  Stay tuned for more information.  In case you didn't know, United Way sponsors a 2-1-1 call line for any residents of Akron who are in need of assistance with shelter, food, transportation or other support services.  That number is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  That's all for now.  Have an outstanding weekend!
